Simon Heath is the Principal of Heath Law which is located in Mississauga, Ontario. Simon’s three core practice areas are:

  • Employment Law
  • Human Rights Law
  • Labour Law

Simon represents his clients at all levels of court and in all administrative tribunals (please look at the Recent Cases to see a sample of Simon’s recent decisions) and he also provides strategic advice on compliance with both the Ontario and the federal statutory regimes.

Simon’s employment law practice involves all aspects of wrongful dismissal, assisting in the management of workplace disputes and workplace investigations, preparing employment contracts and independent contractor agreements and ensuring his clients are in compliance with the ever growing statutory regime governing employment in Ontario.

Simon has a particular interest in human rights and regularly represents both employers and employees at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and provides strategic advice on human rights compliance. In addition, Simon has a keen interest in assisting his clients manage medical disabilities, the duty to accommodate and age discrimination – some of the most common issues on his desk. In fact, if Simon had a crystal ball he would say that age discrimination and its related issues will be one of the most important issues in human rights law in the years to come.
Simon also has tremendous experience assisting unionized employers in both grievance arbitration and collective agreement administration and he appears at the Ontario Labour Relations Board.

Simon also routinely acts for employers and supervisors charged with serious offences under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.

When Simon is not practicing law he can be found on the ski slopes in the Winter and training for his next marathon on a year round basis. To date Simon has completed 40 marathons with a Personal Best at the Steamtown Marathon in Scranton, PA in 2019 with a time of 3:44. The picture to the left is Simon at the 42.1 km mark of the Hamilton Road to Hope Marathon in Hamilton, Ontario. Marathon training gives Simon the illusion that he can eat whatever he wants when he wants it without consequences. Simon is also an avid music fan with interests ranging from the Neil Young and the Rolling Stones, to The Clash and U2 to Tame Impala and the War on Drugs and he is an avid Ottawa Senators fan with a long history of supporting the team.
